  1. This would be a grave mistake. As you know, I am a huge reader and analyser of all things Sherlock Holmes, and I have read various analyses of Conan Doyle’s writings making the argument that there was the additional layer of relationship between Watson and Holmes, so this concept is not new to me; however, I have read every word of the Conan Doyle stories more times that I can recount and I have reviewed the scholarship on this issue and I think it is completely without merit (as do most Sherlock fans). So, you would lose most Sherlockians or Holmesians (due to failure to follow the roots of the characters), most women (due to various issues), and the conservatives (obvious reasons). I don’t think they want to do that. So, even from someone who thinks Brokeback Mountain was one of the great movies of the ’00s and its final 15 minutes packs more of an emotional wallop than almost any movie I can recall…this will not work for Sherlock Holmes and will be a real disappointment for me if it is true.

  2. I have seen the previews to this movie and was really looking forward to seeing it, but just like the movie Alexander if this is true then I am afraid that I’ll have to pass on this one. I cant see why they would like to turn Sherlock Holmes into Broke Back Mountian. What a load of garbage, but what do you expect from Hollywood. Lindsay.
