Here are my three quick thoughts on Miley’s VMA performance.
1. If as Christians our first reaction is to point, malign, and smear, then our first reaction is wrong.
2. If the extent of your parental instinct is to say to your children, “don’t do that”, then you will miss another opportunity to transform your child. Discussions must go past just behavior. Talk to your daughter (and son) about the heart; why did Miley offer that performance? None of us can know for certain, but the heart should be the focal point of the conversation. Then go to the gospel.
3. Bebo Norman wrote a song in 2008 for Britney Spears. Britney’s mom wrote Bebo and thanked him for the song. It is timely again today.
